Streamline Your Thesis: How to Move Mendeley to Kindle

Mendeley does not offer a native feature or plugin to directly sync or push PDFs to an Amazon Kindle. Because old third-party automation tools like KinSync are obsolete, sending your research papers to your Kindle requires locating the Mendeley local PDF folder and using Amazon’s official Send to Kindle features. Phase 1: Locate Your Mendeley PDFs

To send files, you first need to find where Mendeley Reference Manager saves your downloaded documents: Open Mendeley Reference Manager.

Click on the paper you want to transfer to open the information pane on the right.

Look under the Files section. Click the file to see its option to “Show in folder” or simply open the PDF on your computer and save a copy directly to your Desktop. Phase 2: Send the PDFs to Kindle (3 Methods)

Choose the method that best fits your workflow to transfer the documents wirelessly or via cable.

Method 1: Use the “Send to Kindle” Web Browser Tool (Easiest)

This is the fastest wireless method for moving multiple papers without touching email settings.

Navigate to the official Amazon Send to Kindle page in your browser. Log into your Amazon account.

Drag and drop your Mendeley PDFs directly into the browser upload box.

Toggle Add to your library to On so it syncs across your devices.

Click Send. The PDFs will show up in your library over Wi-Fi within minutes. Method 2: Send via Approved Email (Best for Automation)

You can email papers directly to your device by utilizing your Kindle’s unique email address. Go to Manage Your Content and Devices on Amazon. Click Preferences > Personal Document Settings.

Scroll to Approved Personal Document E-mail List and add your personal email address.

Copy your Kindle’s designated address found right above that list (e.g., [email protected]).

Draft a blank email from your approved email address, attach the Mendeley PDF, and send it to your Kindle email address.

Tip: If you put “convert” in the email subject line, Amazon will attempt to turn the PDF layout into an adjustable Kindle ebook layout so you can alter the font sizes. Leave it blank if you want the original, fixed multi-column layout. Method 3: Drag and Drop via USB (Best for Large Files)

If you have a slow internet connection or files larger than 200MB, use a physical wired connection.
